Questions, answered.
Which size should I choose?
As a rule, a picture light should span about one-half to two-thirds of the width of the artwork. The L 18.9″ suits pieces up to roughly 30″ wide, while the L 24″ is better for larger artwork, mirrors and bookshelves up to about 40″ wide. Both also work well above a bathroom mirror or along a library wall.
How high should I mount it?
Mount the backplate centered above the artwork or shelf, about 4–8″ (10–20 cm) above the top of the frame, so the hood angles light down across the piece. Above a mirror, center it a few inches above the top edge. It is hardwired to a standard wall junction box and controlled by an external wall switch (not included). We recommend installation by a licensed electrician.
What bulbs do you recommend?
Each size takes two E14 or E12 bulbs. Use small LED tubular or candle bulbs at about 3–4W each in warm white (2700–3000 K). LEDs give off very little heat or UV, which helps protect artwork. Bulbs are not included. E12 vs E14 guide →
How do I clean it?
Wipe the hood, arm and backplate with a soft, dry cloth and avoid abrasive cleaners, which can scratch the finish. Switch off at the wall and let the bulbs cool first.
